Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Powerful mantras

January 24, 2022

What are mantras?

You don’t have to be a yogi to chant mantras as a mantra is a word or phrase that is repeated during meditation simply to be more mindful. They have been used for thousands of years as a way of coping with anxiety, manifesting positivity, and creating joyous feelings. [1]

Why are mantras powerful?

The act of chanting is associated with a spiritual discipline that is known to improve one’s listening skills, increase energy, and sensitivity toward others. Mantras hold a large association with manifestation as they can assist in attracting the things you want with more ease simply because you focus your energy more effectively toward them. [2]

Let’s be powerful, recite these with me.

I am grateful for all the opportunities that have come my way. I am loved, I am happy, I am strong, ambitious. I am powerful. I love the school that I attend. I love my family. I have great friends. Everything is wonderful. I am going to accomplish my dreams; I deserve the best.

I am going to try and wake up early every day and work out for good health and to just feel more comfortable. I respect myself. I will not settle for less than I deserve.

If I don’t like something I am not going to complain, I am going to change it. I am going to put in the work. I am not going to be lazy.

I am going to value my time. I am going to save money. I am not going to mindlessly splurge on unnecessary things.

I am going to listen before I speak. I am going to listen more than I speak. I am going to be mindful of my actions.

I am going to meditate every morning or as often as I can. I am not going to relive past experiences in my head. I am going to forget what is gone but never forget what it taught me.

I am going to be a better daughter/son, granddaughter/son, student, friend, sister/brother, person. I want to be remembered for the difference I made. I want to do good. I want the world to be better because I came this way.

I am a powerful force. I have manifested all that I have in my life. I will continue to pursue greatness for I was created for greatness.
