Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Break a sweat at home with these fitness YouTubers

February 5, 2020

By Fatima Bah

As a student, it can be hard to find time to go to the gym. However, it is important to make some time for yourself everyday. That is why I love using YouTube to fit a workout into my schedule whenever I can. Let’s delve into the list of my favourite fitness YouTubers (in no particular order).

Chloe Ting

I am personally a big fan of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It is quick, effective, and more interesting than running on a treadmill (boring!). Chloe Ting has tons of HIIT workouts and she offers free workout programs on her website.

Blogilates

Blogilates focuses on pilates. Her videos are fun and intense. You could also subscribe to her newsletter to receive monthly workout calendars.

Fitness Blender

This power couple will help you break a sweat. They have over 880 videos to choose from (as I am writing this post)!

Superhero fitness

Take your Zumba workouts at home with Keaira Lashae! She makes working out feel like you are at a dance party.
