We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Bond to Charles, Charles to Regent… they’re so close, yet so far away.

Finding a parking spot in front of 61 Charles Street Building is like winning the lottery

Those spots are hot commodities. If you manage to get one, embrace it.

Climbing the stairs of the parking garage is your cardio

Hopefully you remember what floor you parked on.

Every lecture is a three-hour lecture

Pardon? Some of you have classes that are not three hours straight? Can’t relate.

Writing papers is your bread and butter

And you wouldn’t have it any other way!

You can walk around 61 Charles Street Building all you want, a couch is never going to be available

You and your friends can always sit in a circle on the floor, I guess?

The Union Cafe (previously known as the Tuck Shop) has consumed most of your money

It’s the only place to eat without having to leave the building, and they have pretty good food… so here, take my money.

Your professor knows every student by name

One of the many perks of being in a small faculty!

When you visit the North campus location, you immediately need a map

So many buildings… so much confusion...

You know (or know you have seen) every student you meet in the halls

Another perk of being in a small faculty; every face is a familiar face!
