Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

The 10 best gifts from Amazon that university students will actually use

December 14, 2020

Here's a gift guide composed of gifts that all can be found on Amazon!

A 2021/2022 Planner

With busy schedules like ours, we’ll need something reliable! Preferably a planner that will last into the next year, since our second semester starts in a new year.

A lap laptop desk

A lap laptop desk is helpful since working in bed is the new breakfast in bed.

An air fryer

Students don’t have time to cook, but we like to eat. An air fryer will make even the worst cook’s food taste good.

A mini Keurig

Mini Keurigs are small, which is great for smaller living areas with limited storage.

A wireless charger

We’ve all done the charging cord “wiggle” in hopes to hear the charging sound…give the gift of never having to do the dreaded “wiggle” again with a wireless charger.

Beer can covers

Beer can covers, the gift that speaks for itself.

A mug warming plate

A mug warming plate is for the students who make their morning coffee, then get too focused to remember to drink it all before it gets cold. They’ll thank you.

A breakfast sandwich maker

Seriously. A breakfast sandwich in 5 minutes? That’s less time to drive to McDonald's. It is the most important meal of the day you know.

Standing desk

Students can roll a standing desk into their room when they’re tired of sitting 24/7 while studying from home and roll it out when they feel lazy again.

An Amazon gift card

Gift cards are the perfect “when in doubt” gift.
