Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

World's best hot chocolate recipe

January 31, 2023

While Ashlee Marie's handmade World's BEST Hot Chocolate Recipe has become a viral hit on TikTok, it is not my original hot chocolate recipe. She says it is creamy, rich, and flavorful, just as hot chocolate should be.

You can quit purchasing hot chocolate packets since this recipe has only six essential ingredients and is far better made from scratch!

She has some detailed advice on how to prepare the ideal hot chocolate before commencing and diving into the recipe: The cocoa first blooms when the water and cocoa are boiled together. This disperses clumps, thickens the liquid, and—most importantly—releases flavour particles in the powder, producing a noticeably fuller flavour

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 Cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions:
  1. In a saucepan, mix the dry ingredients (cocoa powder, sugar and salt)
  2. Add the water and bring it to a boil; keep boiling for one minute
  3. After the mixture has been brought to a boil, add the milk.
  4. Heat until it's the temp you like.
  5. Take off the heat and add the vanilla, stir and serve

Optional: Add whip cream, sprinkles, and cinnamon and decorate until your heart is desired!

I sincerely hope you like this recipe. It may be a sweet way to relax before exams, spend quality time with your family, or even spend quality time with your significant other. Keep warm and cozy throughout the winter months!
