Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Shows that have their own podcasts

May 13, 2022

I love podcasts! I actually wrote an article a while ago called “A guide to motivational podcasts”. This was my first encounter with podcasts and I used it as a way to fill time during a commute, motivate me during high-stress times, etc. But I have since broadened my podcasting preferences to include podcasts just for leisure! I feel like rewatch podcasts are very on-trend right now. They involve cast members from a show that has ended, re-watching episodes of their show, and debriefing with their castmates about what the experience was like behind the scenes. Cool right? I’ve been finding these so enjoyable and fun! It’s like catching up with friends who also happen to be your favourite characters/actors! Here are some of the fun behind-the-scenes podcasts I’ve been following lately (listed in order of discovery).

The Law & Order: SVU Podcast

This was the first show-related podcast that I found and I was over the moon! I found it just in time for the Bensler (Benson + Stabler) reunion that happened this year. It's not exactly a rewatch podcast because SVU is still running strong but it has been so fun to listen to! I love the promotional angle that says “Every week you’ll go inside the squad room for behind-the-scenes episode intel from the cast and crew…” because it definitely delivers on that promise!

Drama Queens

This is a rewatch podcast hosted by Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Sophia Bush: the ultimate Drama Queens of One Tree Hill. I have seen the entire show and have rewatched select seasons multiple times, so I am a self-admitted fan-girl!  I have been listening to their podcast every week and it really feels like I’m just catching up with some of my besties. They’re so much fun to listen to and learn about what their behind-the-scenes experience was like filming the show!

I Am All In with Scott Patterson

I was actually listening to an episode of Drama Queens when I heard an ad for this podcast! It is hosted by Scott who played Luke on Gilmore Girls! I’ve listened to the first episode so far and it was a treat! He was catching up with Yanic Truesdale who played Michel in the show. I literally laughed out loud during their conversation. When Yanic was asked what his favourite Michel line was he said, “There was an elderly lady at the inn and she came to the front desk and said, ‘Excuse me, sir, do you know where I can find the best antiques?’ and Michel’s answer was, ‘at your house I guess.’”. I literally burst out laughing, that is so typical Michel!

Office Ladies

This podcast is hosted by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey from The Office. I recently discovered this podcast and I’m excited to dive into it. The Office is actually one of the shows that I feel like most people have seen in full, but I have not. Who knows, maybe this podcast will tempt me to rewatch the episodes alongside the cast!

I hope this article gave you some ideas about what rewatch podcasts are and maybe even sparked your interest in finding out if your favourite show has its own. Enjoy!
