There is always a variety of music events taking place in Oshawa. You should always be on the lookout for shows at The Music Hall, Regent Theatre, Simcoe Blues & Jazz Bar, and Cork & Bean. Those are my go-to venues in Oshawa.

Allow me to spread awareness on some upcoming local events that Ontario Tech University students should be exploring this month. Music brings people together, and these upcoming events are an opportunity to meet friends and local musicians.
Simcoe Blues & Jazz
The Simcoe Blues & Jazz Bar has open mic night a few nights a week, and it is definitely one of my favourite spots in Oshawa. One of the best vibes I’ve ever experienced. 10/10, would recommend! This music-themed bar is decorated with vinyl records on the interior and has posters for upcoming special musical events. The Simcoe Blues & Jazz Bar is located close to Ontario Tech University’s North location, just a short bus ride (or walk) away.
Regent Theatre
Mountain Music, Tribute to Alabama

At our very own Regent Theatre, Mountain Music will replicate the harmonies, fiddle, and blue-collar southern rock guitar of Alabama, the famous country and southern rock band. Alabama was a large hit in the 1980s, delivering over 27 number one hits. Tickets can be purchased for $35 through the Regent Theatre’s website.
The Legendary Downchild Blues Band, 50th Anniversary

If you have a passion for the blues, this is a concert you’ll want to be a part of. This event celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Legendary Downchild Blues Band. Juno-award winners, Downchild, are a professional band that you do not want to miss at our local theatre.

Ashley MacIsaac is a traditional Canadian roots musician that impresses a crowd with the dynamic and uplifting sound of his fiddle. Ashley MacIsaac has a sound that is unique to many. His music showcases sounds from a fiddle that most people do not know even exist.
