Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

A very comprehensive list of things to look forward to during the winter break

I always like to compile a list of thing I want to do over the winter break to motivate me. Here are a bunch of options for you to make your own list.

Get some goddamn sleep

What is sleep during a semester, right? Time to fall asleep at 3 am and wake up at noon, amirite?

Take a long ass shower

Okay, is it just me, or does shower time decrease drastically during the semester because you’re like “if I take a 5-minute shower, then I have a whole extra 20 minutes to study!!!!!”

Scratch that last point - take a nice, warm bath with those dope Lush bath bombs

Time to feel like a PRINCESS ya’ll (or prince)

Catch up on Netflix shows

My personal list is to finish up Season 4 of Black Mirror, and FINALLY watch Breaking Bad (I know, I know).

Spend time with family

Let’s be real, family time is usually limited during the semester, so take time this break to play an intense game of Monopoly…now that’s FUN (if your definition of fun is sadistic).

Go skating

I can’t skate well, so really this should be called fall and cry on ice.

via GIPHY

Do nothing

Just sit there and stare at the wall.

via GIPHY

Hot beverages, face masks, candles

ISSA A MOOD FHAM!

via GIPHY

HOLIDAY MOVIES

I’m coming for ya Home Alone and the Grinch!

via GIPHY

Take a bunch of snow pictures

...and then finally put the perfect one on the gram.

Hate on everyone that’s on a warm, tropical vacation

WE GET IT NANCY, YOU’RE HAVING FUN - but could you stop posting on Snapchat 24/7?

Did I mention sleep?

Didn’t think so...

Read as many books as possible

I don’t like making reading lists because I never follow through. I just read whatever fits my vibe in the moment.

Miss my friends

Chilling with friends when you have a shit ton of school work is just FUN!

via GIPHY

Plan for next semester

AKA “Amusing myself with all the ways I won't procrastinate and be a bad student next semester.”

via GIPHY

Get into an argument about how dumb New Year's resolutions are with someone

Okay, good luck with the gym membership.

Fall asleep before midnight

...because I'm a strong independent women and society doesn’t tell me when to fall asleep on December 31!
